FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BCR Ahead of the Environmental Curve
JACKSONVILLE, Florida (October 1, 2009) – The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been authorized by the Obama administration to move toward regulation of greenhouse gas emissions from large power plants and industrial facilities. The pending regulations have generated fear within American industry. However, BCR Environmental, a Jacksonville, FL based company, has already introduced products for water and wastewater treatment facilities that will provide solutions to this new federal initiative.
Gasifier, incinerator and dryer technologies used to dispose of waste water treatment plant biosolids emit large amounts of greenhouse gas emissions and require substantial amounts of energy to operate. These methods may become subject to additional permitting requirements under the EPA’s new regulations. “We are not going to continue with business as usual,” Lisa P. Jackson, the EPA administrator, said Wednesday in a conference call with reporters. “We have the tools and the technology to move forward today, and we are using them.” In response, American industry fears further regulations will increase their operational costs.
