On May 29th, BCR Environmental, a beneficial reuse company, received a certified license from the state of Florida classifying their nutrient-rich, class AA biosolids as fertilizer. With their commitment to using innovative technology to aid the conservation and restoration of the environment, BCR is turning wastewater/sludge into something extremely beneficial for the community.
And not a moment too soon, as states CEO, Nicholas Stonestreet, “We are very excited that the State of Florida has so quickly recognized the vital importance of the BCR reuse technology. Fertilizer prices are skyrocketing, and there is a real need in wastewater treatment for a Green solution. There has never been a better time to make fertilizer from a waste product”. In addition to meeting state regulations for land application and providing an odor-free fertilizer rich in organics, BCR’s process is also helping municipalities lower their carbon footprint. Hauling costs can now be drastically reduced as landfills are no longer necessary. A unique feature, in addition to reduced hauling, BCR’s patented class AA biosolid process eliminates digesters, an energy intensive part of a traditional wastewater plant.
